Luv Bot

Here’s another bot. A (very) quick little Valentine’s drawing for my wife, Jen, last night.

And thanks for all the replies to my question last week! It was great to hear from so many of you. I have no intention of getting rid of this blog in case there was any worry. It was really just a general curiosity thing.

Blonde Bot

Forgot to post this little work doodle from earlier this week.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you still follow me exclusively through this blog and not one of the half-dozen social networks I’m a part of?

Ninjasaur!

This is a pinup I drew late last year for Jason Horn’s first volume of Ninjasaur, currently campaigning for funding over at Kickstarter. For those who don’t know, Ninjasaur is a ninja dinosaur. In the pinup above, he’s fighting Professor Deadbones who terrorizes our hero with a time machine gun. There. I gave you everything you need to start reading the series (a new storyline just started this week).

Also, for those interested, I talked to the fun folks at Beaucoup Pop over the weekend. You can listen to my rambling and bad jokes HERE.

John Carter of Mars

Took a small break from a considerable amount of freelance and comic work right now to draw this long overdue John Carter of Mars commission. First time I’ve ever drawn the characters. Probably won’t be the last.

Favorite Films of 2011

Wasn’t going to do a favorite films list this year since there are quite a few I haven’t gotten around to seeing yet, but I decided what the heck. I really like looking back on these lists. So of the ones I saw, these were my 10 favorites from last year:

  1. Hanna
  2. Super 8
  3. Harry Potter 7 (parts 1 & 2)
  4. The Muppets
  5. X-Men First Class
  6. Moneyball
  7. Thor
  8. Captain America
  9. Kung Fu Panda 2
  10. Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Girl With A Dragon Tattoo would be my #11 I guess. Still sitting on that one. Also, The new Mission Impossible was a ton of fun.

Regret not catching: Drive, Warrior, Arthur Christmas, The Descendants, and The Artist. I’ll see them soon I’m sure.

Most looking forward to in 2012: Prometheus, Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit, The Avengers, Brave, Hunger Games and Skyfall (the new Bond). The new Spider-Man as well, but mainly because it’s a new Marc Webb film and (500) Days of Summer has become one of my favorite films of all time. So I’d be excited about whatever it was he was doing next.

Gwen

Another quick little meeting sketch. I always seem to sit there doodling girls in jackets.

Here are my top 20 favorite albums of 2011. Again, not necessarily the best, but the ones I tended to go back to more than some other ones. Thought this was a pretty great year too! I had a tough time keeping the list at twenty. If anyone would like to take a listen to 60 of my favorite songs of 2011, I made a Spotify playlist you can listen to HERE. A song from most of the albums listed below (not every album is on Spotify just yet) is on there.

Bye, 2011

Got this idea from Dean Trippe and Doc Shaner. A small retrospective of some of my favorite things I drew in 2011. Lots of Batgirl and Supergirl in there!

Ready for 2012 now. :)

One last Batgirl/Supergirl comic, as a kind of thank you to everyone for all your wonderful comments, postings, purchases, and everything else this year. I thought about saying “Seasons Greetings” or “Happy Holidays” for those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas, but since I already had the tree and santa elements in there I figured why not just run with it. Plus I think Kara would be filled to the tipping point for this festive time of year. Babs probably wouldn’t NOT have Christmas spirit, but she would also realize that Gotham’s criminal empire doesn’t take the day off either. Just as long as she can get back in time to share a hot cocoa with commissioner dad.

Anyhow, I think this’ll be it for these little Batgirl/Supergirl comics. I feel these sort of one page, costume themed gags have kind of run their course and if I do any more I’d rather draw a longer arc I have in mind. Next year my primary focus is going to be on my own comic, and there are a few exciting happenings with it that are helping me push that focus. Hopefully that will bring along some exciting news to share with you all next year as well. We’ll see.

For now I have a lot of hard work ahead of me so I hope everyone has a very merry, happy December!  And I’ll see you all next year. Or on twitter.

Purple

Not sure what this is. Started out as a simple warm-up doodle, then I decided to throw some color on it.  But mostly the purple color. Maybe I’ll do all the colors someday (but probably not).

Jackie Rose

Pinup I just finished up of Josh Ulrich’s Jackie Rose, who just finished his first book of the temperamental, globetrotting treasure hunter this week. Check it out!

Drew Cleo (and Khensu) this morning. Been hard at work on chapter 3!

Saturn Girl

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any little female superhero pinups, so here’s a Saturn Girl to end the work week.

A little rainy day Halloween sketch from this morning.

Smoke up, Bub.

I haven’t read Wolverine and the X-Men yet, but I am assuming now that Wolverine is a professor now, he smokes a pipe.

Batman with a Balloon

For Jon Morris and Dean Trippe, who feel there should be more drawings of Batman with balloons (although I would have drawn this anyway).

Oliver

On October 13th at 3:41 am, Oliver Prime Maihack rolled out* at 7 lbs, 1 oz, 20 in. He’s kinda like the best thing ever.

* Jen would like to inform everyone that “rolling out” was not how Oliver arrived but was, in fact, slightly the opposite of that.
