I was very honored to draw a cover for Todd Dezago and Craig Rousseau’s excellent Perhapanauts book. The issue (Perhapanauts: Danger Down Under #4) will be on stands Feb 6th. Had a lot of fun with this one.

I’ve decided to start offering commissions again. If my inbox is any indication, this should come as great news to a lot of you out there! Also, I have no idea how long I’ll leave them open. Just depends on how overcrowded my work life gets. Anyhow, pricing and details are HERE.
Seems like a good day to list my favorite films from last year. Of the ones I saw at least. Which is becoming less and less the further I make my way into fatherhood.
Really though, only films I’m kinda bummed I missed were (in order) Argo, Silver Linings Playbook, Lincoln, and Perks of Being a Wallflower (which admittedly are all films that’ll be just as good (or bad) in my living room anyhow). But at least I’m finally seeing Django Unchained this weekend! So anyhow, again, here are my faves of the ones I saw.
My 20 favorite albums of 2012, presented here without commentary because well… I’m busy making art. But I do love making these lists and it’s fun to look back and see what music has stayed with me and what I’ve possibly moved away from.
I initially didn’t think this was as good a year as last–in fact, I don’t think any of the albums on this list are better than my top three from last year–but when compiling these albums I realized that there were more artists and more music I liked this year than last. I think easier access form streaming services like Spotify played a large part in this, but the 90′s resurgence (my favorite era of music) continuing from last year was also very welcomed. No Doubt, Smashing Pumpkins, and Alanis Morrisette (who barely got edged out of this list) all had strong releases. Japandroids’ Celebration Rock, my 2nd favorite of the year, felt like it had a kind of 90′s garage aesthetic to it. Still, what I’m most happy about is the varity of genre I enjoyed this year. Even though my current obsession with indie electronic and folk pretty much dominates this list, this is the first time I’ve ever had a soul or R&B album in my top 20–let alone my top 5.
Anyhow, on to the list. For those with Spotify (which, really, if you are reading this at all you should be subscribing to), I made a playlist of these 20 albums. I also compiled a massive five hour playlist of my 75 favorite songs of 2012. If you listen to one playlist this week, that’s the one I recommend. Pretty proud with how it turned out. A song from each of the albums below is in there.

Similar to last year, a few of the things I drew in 2012. In addition to all the fan art and doodles, I also drew a 170 page graphic novel! (Although I still have to color it)
It was also my first full year of being a dad and the year I jumped full time into freelance and comic making. 2013 is looking to be my busiest and most creatively fulfilling year yet and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
Sometimes it’s difficult to tell if Supergirl is the worst superhero or the best…
Anyhow, I hope you all enjoy this little lapse from my self-imposed Batgirl/Supergirl comics retirement to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas! (or Hanukah, or Kwanza, or Festivus, or whatever your winter holiday of choice is). Indulge in all the cookies you want. It is an intricate part of what this time of year is all about.

Throughout last year I Illustrated a fantastic book by author Mike Jung titled Geeks, Girls, and Secret Identities- and that book is officially out this week! Better yet, the book is receiving some wonderful reviews including this one from Publishers Weekly. BEST yet, that review gives a good breakdown of the book so I don’t have to type it here. But for those too busy/lazy to click and look, the gist is this: superhero fanclub, giant robot, school-yard crush, evil plot, exciting twist, lots-of-action.
I illustrated the jacket and 40 or so interior illustrations for GG&SI, most of wich consisted of drawing said giant robot, a beefy superhero, a goonies-esque trio, and one punky young gap-toothed girl. Oh and pizza. I also drew a bunch of pizza. It was a great gig. I know I’m biased but I can’t recommend the book highly enough. It’s just super fun.

I will be at Baltimore Comic-Con this weekend, September 8th-9th at the Baltimore Convention Center. Once again I’ll be sharing space with some of the best kid and all-ages comic creators in the business at the Kids Love Comics pavilion- Booth 2403. Map and info below.
Along with Heroes Con, BCC is one of the best kid-friendly shows on the east coast and there’s going to be a lot of events and activities going on. So if you have children, make sure to bring them by. My attendance was something of a last minute thing, but hopefully I can squeeze in some sort of activity or demonstration as well. Maybe show the kids how to draw space cats or sumthin. At any rate, should be a fun time and I look forward to seeings some of you there!

Plus, really- how could I say no to this? Storm, Rogue, Psylocke, and Dazzler sporting their fabulous 80?s fashions? Yeah, twist my arm. ;)
