drawergeeks’ topic last week was elves. this is another one for my giant pink heart series. ;)

also, most of you (i hope) know i do a weekly comic called cow & buffalo. well, today i just put up the quindrupel-sized ending to a story arc that’s been going on since september of 2006. now that we know the story actually has an end, it might be fun to go back and read the whole thing from the beginning. it’s sixty-four strips in total, not counting all the places cow teleported off to over the last month. here’s where it all began!

and, i’ve said this elsewhere- but a HUGE THANKS to all the artists that put up with cow as he invaded your comics and/or websites. you totally helped make journey cow more awesome than i ever intended. in case you missed the event, the full list of all the comics cow zapped himself into can be viewed here.

here’s some photos from mid-ohio con last weekend, courtesy of my good friend matt who took all the pictures and kept me company at my table. he’s also the guy responsible for the awesome cow & buffalo stand-ups you see behind me.

there i am on day one! with cow and buffalo excited to be on display. :)

and i guess that was it for day one because the rest of the photos have me wearing a different shirt. that’s matt to the right of me giddy about showing off all the display stuff he made for me (thanks matt!).

when matt would leave to go wander the floor cow would step up in his place. i would try to have conversations with him but it was like talking to a piece of cardboard.

oh cow!

i don’t usually sell sketches for people at shows because i’m sloooooooow. but this guy was persistent. he wanted a dancer so here’s girl uh… dancing. on fire. hotttt.

this one guy came by with this huge book of sketches he’s collected from artists drawing yoda. it was the coolest book to browse through with original drawings from amazing artists like jeff smith and david mack. this took less convincing for me to quickly sketch my tea drinking version of the old jedi master.

speaking of tea- this young captain america recognized my tea drinking wolverine from drawergeeks. his dad informed me he was saying “more tea, mr fuzzles?” for a week after seeing it. cool!

speaking of captain america- here’s his not quite as well-known counter part, captain ohio (great costume)!

matt is a lover of chickens so he couldn’t resist taking a picture of this guy balancing a rubber chicken. incredible!

matt then thought it would be fun to have some of the costumed characters reading adventures in sandwich making. here’s batman…

and hellboy… (i love that guy behind hellboy. he’s so ready to do.. something…)

and this guy…

batgirl and superman… (great hair supes!)

vader…

a jawa…

and this stormtrooper. this one’s gotta be my favorite. he just looks so generally involved.

that’s it! back to drawing!

i’m going to be part of a couple new web collectives starting up this month. i’m super excited about both of them and can’t wait to announce what they are. for now though, here is an image i finished last night for one of ‘em:

so last year i:

became more public about my faith in Christ.
started to act on that.
started a christian comic anthology.
got mentioned on drawn!.
joined drawergeeks.
drew a backup story for a comic.
gained a new niece.
finally went to comic con (and met many friends!).
started a new job (which i love).
reached 127 strips of cow & buffalo.
published a book (yes! i did! more on that later!).
saw two of my best friends get married.
made many new friends both online and off.
drew everyday, 365 days in a row.
created more illustrations in one year then i have the entire time i’ve been out of college.
discovered pocky.
started up seed again (albeit slowly)
and created this blog.

it felt like a great 2006. and no doubt it all stems from those first two things i mentioned. chances are, troubled times are ahead, but i still have the feeling 2007 will be better then the last. :)

wheeee! i’m back! maaaan, what an awesome vacation. jen took something like 560 pictures while we vacationed at disney and at our friends’ wedding (disney wedding = best wedding ever!), so she might have some stuff up on flikr soon. i’ll let you know.

i was spending more time playing video games, spending time with old friends, enjoying park attractions and napping in hammocks then i was taking pictures but i did end up drawing some robots. i drew about one of these silly things a day while at the resort.

eventually i got bored of this and wondered what cow and buffalo would look like as robots…

now i have lotssss of catching up to do. it’s good to be back, but maaan, vacation is nice. it’s a good thing i have another little mini one to go to in a couple of weeks!

cow & buffalo is up, this time with more cow & buffalo!

i’m going to try to post a sketch a day this week. old sketches, sure, but at least some of me own art to show on me own blog. since c&b went up today, i thought i’d start by posting this silly little page out of my last sketchbook. this’ll be the oldest sketch i’ll show. it was done waaaay back on the second of january, the day after i decided i was going to draw everyday this year.

earlier this week i also updated my illustration page. mostly drawer geek stuff, so if you’ve been regularly visiting this blog then you’ve probably seen most of the stuff in there already. but there might be some stuff in there that you’ve missed if you want to check it out.

today’s cow & buffalo is my 100th cow & buffalo strip i’ve ever done. i’m not sure if that’s really that big a deal or not, but it does makes me feel good to know i’ve kept with this strip from week to week without any stumbles. in fact, i’ve been really happy with these last couple months worth of strips so that’s personally a nice feeling as well. i’ve been told i should have done something special for this occasion, but i was sort of in the middle of a storyline and didn’t want to pause or distract from it. who knows? maybe i’ll do something special for number 200. :)

i’ll be enjoying some time with family and friends today as i more appropriately celebrate my birthday from yesterday. i suppose i can secretly celebrate this little feat as well.
