    Aha! So that’s where Khensu came from! He must have acquired the ability to talk some time after he arrived (or perhaps the time machine rearranged his brain and mouth to allow for speech).

    No need to go that far into wold speculation.
    More than likely he did a bit of time and space hopping and met up with some advanced race that took pity on his inability to communicate or that he didn’t have thumbs.
    Cats with opposible thumbs – a scary prospect.
