the matt yokom takeover: part 1
NOTICE: while i take a brief sabbatical from c&b and other aspects of internet life, my good friend and artist matt yokom is taking over cow & buffalo! i’ll be back sometime in november. -mike
Hi there! My name is Matt and as you probably may know Mike is on vacation… a much needed vacation. I’m sure it must be rough living in a warm tropical environment such as Tampa- you know all that nice eighty degree weather probably stresses him out. I am from Ohio living mostly in dismal weather conditions and when I go on vacations, I usually go to warm weather environments in the winter (along with 70% of people over the age of sixty) like Tampa (side inquisitive observation: where would people from Tampa go to on vacation? Buffalo, NY?).
Anyhoo, this is the part I guess where mike usually says something about the comic and so I will too. And since I am taking over his site for a few weeks, I’m sure he won’t mind if I take a few creative licenses with it either! I mean, he’s probably not even going to look at his site for the next couple of weeks! But I promised him I wouldn’t go crazy and stick within the existing order of Cow & Buffalo. So with that I humbly present to you Cow & Buffalo in: New Fad.
- Matt!
p.s. Please go easy on the critiques, other than this strip here I did a while ago, this is my first shot! :) See ya next week!

I’m with Ido about the font, but I’m really looking forward to where you take things, Matt!

Chicken-head wear rules!…eventually.
Nice to see the babyhood flashback again!

Haha, nice start Matt! I especially liked the old school evil villain in the shadows hatching his evil plan shot. :) Poor goat, I don’t see how chicken wearing could ever overtaking the snap bracelet, those things were it!
In other news, us Tampa folks clearly go to Europe on our vacations. Haha, don’t I wish – or we could go back up north to where all of our family and friends live, because rarely do you find a native Floridian. :)

hey everyone – sorry about the fonts, i’ll be trying to enlarge them in the coming strips, minor problem is that some are already done and uploaded…i think this strip will probably be the worst of them though…font size-wise:)…i cant guarantee the comedy gold mike offers us each week.
Daniel – i like the baby flashbacks too, cow is just a dumb now as when he was a baby. Andrew- my wife was the inspiration for that and/or wearing a “Def Leppard” cd around her neck as a necklace, but boy was she cool…in the 90′s. bruna- thanks for the feedback, a cool laugh just makes a villain…like Dr. Horrible.

OK, so it looks like I cannot post a link here, so everyone search for garfield minus garfield, and then look at the strip on September 17th.
It has begun!

oh, indeed…it is on….jon arbuckle wearing a chicken on his head?! what’s crazier is the fact that i know who jon arbuckle is! to my defense, this strip was done in october….so jon obviously saw goat when he went to the farm….

Hey, Matt! I think you did a good job. You stayed true to the characters of Cow and Buffalo and how they interact with each other. The font could be bigger, but that’s not a major deal. Great start!

[...] strip gave me a good opportunity to finally draw the goat that matt yokom created back when he was guest drawing/writing the comic last year. so there you go matt! you can stop nagging me about that [...]
