Switching things up a little, here’s a character commission for a Batgirl and Kitty Pryde (plus Lockheed) team-up. Doesn’t seem like Kitty is any better than Supergirl at messing around with poor Batgirl’s world.

Lockheed by Mike Maihack

First post of the new year!

I drew Lockheed for Calamity Jon Morris’ Reduxe of The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. I was hoping I’d be able to draw more characters but, as most if you know, time was not on my side last year. Glad I was able to at least sneak this little fire breather in.

The original illustration is by Paul Smith and Joe Rubinstein.

Social networking has caused me to neglect my blog! I’ve been doing these little doodles every so often and posting them to my various accounts, but for whatever insane reason, not here. Which should really be the first place I post them too. I’ll aim to fix that. Anyhow, check out the little gallery below to see some stuff I’ve done.

SDCC was great by the way! Sold a lot. Went to some parties. Met up with friends. Good time all around. It did, however, completely deplete me of almost my entire print stock so I’ll be doing a reorder early next week. If there are any of these sketches (or anything else for that matter) you are wanting a print of please let me know. Thanks!

And if you are looking for an alternative way to follow some of my arts, here are the various social networks I’m currently on:

Of those, I’m probably still the most active on Twitter but I still regularly update and check the rest of them. Also for those wanting some of your OWN art from me, I should have some good news come Monday. :)

about three months ago i got into this kitty pryde kick. she’s always been my favorite x-girl and i thought of this slight costume change that i wanted to give her. well, i did a bunch of sketches till i finally drew one that i felt like finishing- then i closed that particular sketchbook and forgot all about it. last week though, while i was scanning in some stuff out of said sketchbook, i saw my forgotten drawing and decided i might as well finish what i started.
